Question:

1 - Given that lm-2l = 7, and ln-3l = 6 where m<0 and n<0, what is the value of m+n?

Ismail E.

Answer:

m and n has two values, one positive and one negative. we need to find the negative values of m and n, and add them up. m-2 = 7 or m-2 = -7, n-3=6 or n-3 = -6 add 2 to both sides add 3 to both sides. m-2+2 = 7+2 or m-2+2= -7+2, n-3+3 = 6+3 or n-3+3 = -6+3 m=7 or m= -5, n = 9 or n= -3 where m and n less than 0, m = -5, n = -3, m+n = -5+ (-3)= -8

Question:

Which values of x satisfies the inequality −2x + 4 ≤−6

Ismail E.

Answer:

In such a questions you need to be careful about the steps and the sign. I will add -4 to both sides (before and after the inequality sign,≤) Step 1: add -4 −2x + 4 + (-4) ≤−6+(-4) −2x + 4 - 4 ≤−6 - 4 −2x + 0 ≤−10........... −2x ≤−10 Step 2: divide both sides by 2.\, −2x/2 ≤−10/2 −x ≤−5 Step 3: Divide both sides by -1, −x/(-1) ≤−5/(-1) Note: when you divided by a negative number you have to change the inequality sign direction. x ≥5..... that means x could be 5 or bigger.

Question:

What is friction and what is the difference between static and kinetic friction?

Ismail E.

Answer:

In the universe, you can see friction in every moving and non-moving object such as when we are walking there is friction between the floor and our feet. Friction is the contact between two surfaces. Static friction is when two objects at rest. Kinetic friction is when two objects are sliding over each other.
