How do different academic writing styles affect the tone of the paper?

Answer:

Most insititutes of education have a standard in which writing is expected to be formated. With each one, the tone of the paper can be drastically changed. AP style, specifically, is for the media and writing for the press. There are standards in which a reporter must relay information about an event with total accuracy in the statements that are made. AP style can also be utilized in other forms of academic writing (MLA & APA), as it is meant to be impartial. Understanding AP style helps writers of any level, better their skills. This is because having to be impartial and practical helps many think logically and soundly with their writing. MLA Format, typically used in K-12 setting allows for more informality in the paper. MLA format does not require as detailed citations or bibliographies either, which many students find to be the most challenging part of a paper. APA is a scholastic essay in which formality and accuracy take precedent over voice. In APA format, it is important to make sure your points are sound and cumulative when possible. This writing is utilized in secondary education, as work is expected to have more detail and accuracy than in previous educational settings.
