How do you get past the fear that you will make mistakes when speaking a new language?
You will make mistakes. As long as you learn from them, and continue to try, you are going in the right direction. It is important to keep trying even in the face of errors, because there is no way of going about learning something new without things going wrong from time to time. Also, people who speak Spanish are usually very appreciative of the fact that you are trying, so just keep going!
What is the best way to discover your own writing style?
As trite as this answer is, the answer truly is to practice. Only through writing can someone make their own voice, and start to write confidentially in their own style. Daily prompts are a great way to practice and keep up a pattern, so that it is easier to keep writing.

When the interaction between patron and librarian occurs completely online, without interaction face-to-face, what steps can the librarian take to be as welcoming and helpful as possible?
It is important to start out the interaction on a good foot. The librarian should ask follow up questions to avoid researching the wrong information. Once they start researching, they should go back to the conversation and update the patron as they work, even if they merely send a message saying, "I'm still looking, thank you for your patience!" That way, the patron knows that they haven't been forgotten. Once they have an answer for the patron, the librarian must give it in a way that accessible for the patron to understand. When they know that the patron has gotten the answer they needed and has no further questions, it is beneficial to sign off nicely, to finish the conversation on a good note.
