(-900) - (-345) = ?
Oh the dreaded negative integers that students always seem to slip up on. Don't fret! It's just a dash that makes a number negative. For this question there is a negative number being subtracted from another negative number. Remember that two negatives make a positive! (-900) + 345 =? Now the final question is, will the answer be positive or negative? (-900) + 345 = -555 If you said negative you are correct! Don't forget about negative signs!
Subject: Basic Math
12 X (14-3) + 9 = ?
For this question don't forget about PEMDAS which stands for parentheses, exponent, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. In this case, parentheses would be the first target (14-3) = 11 Now the question becomes 12 X 11 + 9 = ? The next order of PEMDAS would be multiplication 12 X 11 = 132 Now the question becomes 132 + 9 = ? Which leads to the answer being... 132 + 9 = 141

Each month Susan's mom has to pay $45 for the family's cell phone plan. The only other thing she has to worry about is Susan going over their data plan of 2.0 GB per member. It would cost Susan's mom $0.20 per byte if her daughter went overboard with social media. What equation could be used to find the cost of her monthly bill?
So we know from this question that we are trying to find the cost of the family's monthly bill which would be dependent on the number of bytes that go over the plan. This would mean that cost is the dependent variable (y) and the number of bytes is the independent variable (x). Now that we established the variables for the equation we have to identify what equation we will be using. In this case, slope-intercept form or y=mx+b would be the best choice because it shows the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. So the equation would be: y = 0.20x + 45 *Remember 2.0 GB is a number but it does not play a role in determining the cost for the family's monthly bill.
