Answer:

Let us consider the water is X liters. Water is denoted as W= 1x and Milk is denoted as M=2x, So M: W= 2x:1x ---------- (eqn-1) 6 liters pure water added means W= 1x+6. The ratio of Milk and water is M: W = 2x:1x+6, This is equal to ratio 4:5 after mixing. It means 2x:1x+6= 4:5 ---------------(eqn-2) After finding solution .of eqn-2 x is found to be 4. so that Milk is 8 and water is 4 in original quantity.
