### Subject:Java Programming

Question:

Why comparing two strings should be down using equals function rather than a == operator.

Inactive
Nooreddin N.

== operator checks the address of two strings, not the content of them. It works only if they refer to literal values (i.e. They are stored in the string literal pool). equals method is overridden in the String class to check the content of two strings.
