I grew up on a farm outside Fresno in the Californian Central Valley. I graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Film Studies. I then attended San Diego State University, and I earned my Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a Teaching Emphasis. I have been teaching English courses since graduate school, and I work at various community colleges around San Diego County. In my free time I spend it with my wife and daughter, reading, watching movies, or with my friends.

I have been an English Instructor at Southwestern Community College for over ten years. I have also been an instructor at Grossmont Community College for the past five years. My focus has been on teaching argumentation and critical thinking skills. While teaching at Coleman University I also taught courses in Humanities, Screenwriting, Science Fiction, and Horror Literature.

My courses center around learning the structure of a range of argument essay styles using the Stasis Theory concepts of comparison contrast, causality, evaluation, and definition. We also study the Aristotelian appeals and how they are the basis of all evidence types. We examine how to blend outside sources using proper MLA citations and students' own original ideas on their subjects.
