click in the cell that you want your answer to show and type Sum(. Next click on the cell and highlight where you want to start the adding. Hold down the right key and drag to the cell you want to stop the adding. This will highlight all cells that will be added so in the total box you will see something like " Sum( D2:D5 . Then just put a parenthesis at the end. So in the total cell you would have typed Sum(D2:D5) and the total will show automatically.

Simplify means "to combine like terms" . Like terms would be all the a's, all the b's, etc. So first take 3 and multiply with 5a which gives your 15a, Second, 3 x 2b = 6b, Third 3 x 3c =9c. Then just plug in your signs so you get a finally answer of 15a + 6b + 9c.

How do I change a mixed number such as 1 3/7 into a decimal?

Let's first define the terms of the mixed number. 1 is the whole number, 3 is the numerator, and 7 is the denominator. First step, multiply the denominator and the whole number together. (7x1=7). Second add the numerator (7 + 3= 10). Third, the 10 now becomes your numerator and the denominator of 7 stays the same (10/7). Finally divide 10 by 7 but add a decimal and at least 2 zeros behind 10 (10.00 divided by 7). Seven goes into 10 once with remainder of 3, bring down 0 to make 30. 7 goes into 30 four times with remainder of 2, bring down last zero to make 20, 7 goes into 20 twice. so your answer would be 1.42. However, this example could continue with a longer decimal. Usually your teacher or the test will specify how many decimal places to round to.
