What over-the-counter (OTC) medication is recommended for severe toothache? Aren't they all the same?
Ibuprofen and Tylenol are the two most common and easily available over the counter medications. Both medications are frequently used for reducing pain and fever. Although both of them are generally used for a common purpose, Ibuprofen is a better choice for toothache since it also has anti-inflammatory properties which often helps significantly with toothache. Tylenol, on the other hand, has weak anti-inflammatory properties and not usually a go-to choice. Both medications will help with pain regardless. Aleve or Naproxen is another OTC pain reliever, which has similar properties to Ibuprofen.
What is adrenaline? Describe the function and state the impact of this chemical if over or under secreted by the human body.
Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine, is a hormone made in the human body by the adrenal glands. It is generally referred to as the fight-or-flight hormone and controls many important bodily functions that affect the blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood flow. It also controls respiratory rates as well as expansion or contraction of the pupil of the eye. Due to its important role in the body, its under or over secretion can affect muscle tonicity, blood pressure, stress response, and even onset of sexual development, to name a few.
