Sally has $12.00 to spend at the mall. Her pal, Dean, has $6.00 to spend at the mall. Can Sally and Dean, together, purchase a board game costing $16.00? If so, what would their change be?
Yes, Sally and Dean can purchase the board game. Together, Sally and Dean have $18.00, because 12 + 6 = 18, and 18 is greater than $16.00! Their change would be $2.00. If you take 16 away from, or subtract, 18, you are left with 2! So, their change would be $2.00

What is sense of place, and how does it impact an individual's ability to prosper?
Sense of place is multi-faceted, insofar as it includes the individual itself and all of their social identities, their geographical location, and their ability to relate to their environment. In summation, a sense of place can be defined as an individual's relationship to not only the physical but emotionally construed environment in which they inhabit. Sense of place can make or break an individual's financial status and emotional well-being, to name a few impacts. Nordic countries have high social safety nets. With the policy set in place for a universal basic income, individuals can embrace a culture of "quitting." They do not feel stigmatized for quitting their jobs and exploring passions -- in fact, it is quite welcomed. According to the World Happiness Index, countries such as those stated above generally have a happier populace as compared to those around the globe. Moreover, citizens in these countries focus more on their community instead of their individual person. They help each other with daily chores, and enjoy interacting and helping others, with less regard to their own personal status in life. For example, in the United States, which embraces an individualistic culture, individuals tend to conduct their lives based upon their ability to climb social ladders due to a lack of universal basic income and the prioritization of their community over themselves. Sense of place often impacts how individuals philosophize life. A communal versus an individualistic culture, and thus the individual's sense of place impacts not only the ability to prosper but their own definition of prosperity.
