Subject: Graphic Design

TutorMe
Question:

What fonts should I use in my graphic design?

Mary C.
Answer:

The font you pick will depend on the mood of your graphic. For formal events or high end brands, Serif fonts like Times New Roman may be appropriate. For more casual events or brands with a minimalist style, Sans Serifs like Helvetica are usually preferred. You can have more than one font in your design as well, though typically you shouldn't have more than two different fonts in any design.

Question:

How do you make things look 3D on a 2D design?

Mary C.
Answer:

There's a variety of techniques that go into making a 2D drawing appear 3 Dimensional. The most important are perspective and shading. Perspective in drawing refers to the way that object appear bigger/smaller/distorted depending on the distance and angle the object is from your eye. Shading is how you represent the way light is hitting an object.

Question:

How do I create designs in illustrator? I can't just draw like in other art programs!

Mary C.
Answer:

Illustrator works a bit different than other art programs. Instead of drawing you create shapes called Vectors using the Pen and Shape tool. It's more like making an image with cut paper than a traditional drawing.
