About Paul

About Paul
I have been an adjunct instructor in Math for 16 years. I have also worked in the customer service industry for over 10 years. My best teaching comes from dialog with the student to discover what level I need to begin. I am motivated by seeing a student discover what he or she can accomplish.

Work Experience

Work Experience
Youngstown State University., Adjunct Instructor
2010 - 2021
I teach all levels up to applied calculus and introductory statistics. This is ten years. I have six additional years which I taught when I first graduated.
Taylor's Bakery and Gourmet Coffee, Manager/Baker
1997 - 2008
I was the one full time employee at a coffee shop and bakery. I carried out the daily operations and baking schedule. I also trained and oversaw all of the employees. Almost all employees were college students. My favorite part of the job was training new employees and keeping them updated on new skills. This training involved teaching motor-skills to operate machinery as well as baking techniques. Every day I was reminded of my passion for teaching.
Youngstown State University, Adjunct Instructor
1990 - 1997
This is when I first began teaching classes. It was the same environment as above, but the technology was different. Over the years, we all have to adjust to new ways teaching.
Youngstown State University - Mathematics Lab, Tutor/ Graduate Assistant
1986 - 1990
This is where it all began. As a student with an aptitude for math, I picked up a student job a the math tutoring center. I loved what I did. This job made me decide to get a second major in math and continue on to graduate studies. I always saw myself as a teacher. From this job as a student, I got my graduate assistantship at the same location, where I oversaw other tutors and set up the "then new" computer assisted tutoring software. Times have changed. but students still need that little boost to get them through their studies.
