What is the goal of Social Work?
The goal of social work, generally speaking, is to create a genuine safe space for the people who you work with to help someone connect more efficiently to themselves and the resources that can help.
What is the difference between sociology and psychology?
There are many differences and overlaps between the two. Sociology is more of a macro view of human behavior, where psychology is a micro view and more individualized. Sociology studies groups of people (cultures, families, countries, etc) and the factors that contribute to the experience of the group.
Does money actually make people happier?
Yes and no. Research suggests that money does make a person happier, however the sustainability of the happiness can be limited. This concept can be explained with the idea of the hedonic treadmill, which is the idea that everyone has a baseline of happiness and extrinsic/intrinsic factors foster increases and decreases of our happiness. However, our happiness tends to fall back to our baseline over time. So, money can temporarily increase our happiness, but probably will not increase our baseline without attending to the multiple other factors that contribute to long-term experiences of happiness.
