Answer:

Trading ports in cities such as Mecca, Instabul, Venice, etc were important centers of information. News about the goings-on of the rest of the world was brought by foeign ships, languages were exchanged, mixed-raced children were born and brought up. Trading ports, and subsequently, their cities were a melting pot. It was also from these ports that information was taken out and stories were told and elaborated on.

Answer:

The French Revolution was a bloody years-long struggle that dismantled the monarchy and replaced the old regime with a republic. Following the executions of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette and their supporters, the French hailed to the other monarchies of Europe that they were not innately gifted with the right to rule. Rather, governing was a responsibility and the people had a voice.

Question:

What do some of the earliest examples of art history tell us about our artistic ancestors?

Answer:

Whether the caves in Lascaux or the Venus of Willendorf, our artistic ancestors used expressed themselves in order to memorialize their existence. It is often argued that art is a leisure activity, those living in caves and hunting and gathering did not have time for such frivolity. However, from the earliest examples, it can be seen that artistic expression was a way of life. Documentation mattered, ritual mattered, belief in something larger mattered.
