Question:

How does someone start writing an essay?

Answer:

The first step in writing an essay is to plan. Keep in mind the key parts to most essays: - the introductory paragraph or introduction: This is where you give background and context for your paper, and include your thesis statement, the line that directly answers the prompt - the body paragraphs: This where you provide evidence for your main points. The number can vary based on the prompt and what you want to talk about - the concluding paragraph: This is the last paragraph in an essay. You tie up your points together and talk about the "So What"- why your points and statement matter. This is a general outline to follow when writing essays. There are a lot more parts involved, but this can definitely serve as a great foundation!

Question:

Malini goes to the grocery store, looking to buy fruits for her mom. She is given strict instructions to not spend more than $8.00. If Malini goes into the store and buys 3 apples for $1.00 each, 2 oranges for $2.00 each, and 1 banana for $2.00, will she go over her limit?

Answer:

Let's break it down so we can see how much the total for each item costs Since we know the price for 1 item for each fruit, and how many fruits she is getting, we can use multiplication to find the total cost for each fruit 3 apples x $1.00/apple = $3.00 2 oranges x $2.00/orange = $4.00 1 banana x $2.00/banan = $2.00 Now, we can find Malini's total cost by adding up the total for each fruit together $3.00 + $4.00 + $2.00 = $9.00 Since her limit is $8.00, and $9.00 > $8.00, Malini is currently going over her limit.
