Answer:

1. Recognize that the standard equation of a circle is: (x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2= r^2 with (h,k) being the center of the circle. 2. Divide the diameter by 2 to obtain a radius of 5. 3. Substitute in the center and radius and simplify. (x--2)^2+(y-5)^2=5^2 (x+2)^2+(y-5)^2=25

Subject: Sociology

Question:

In a high level answer explain how the three main sociological theories discussed (conflict, structural-functional, and interaction) would view the role of activism within society.

Answer:

- Conflict theorists would view the rise of activism as stemming from the social imbalances of daily life and within our systems. - Structural functionalists could see the rise in activism in society as counterproductive to maintaining social order in that it can create divisiveness. As functionalists view the world as needing consensus to maintain working order in society, they could also view activism as integral to working towards this goal. - Interaction theorists would approach activism on a micro level and attempt to explain individual participation and group participation (or aversion) to activism through various individual experiences, beliefs, and norms.

Answer:

1. Substitute the first equation in for y in the second equation resulting in 2x+4-2=3x 2. Simplify 2x+2=3x 3. Subtract like terms from both sides of the equal sign 2=1x x=2. 4. Substitute x in to either one of the original equations and solve to get y. y=2(2)+4 y=4+4 y=8 Answer: (x,y)=(2,8)
