Answer:

I am interested in improving each student's overall ability to listen and converse in Mandarin. I believe this exercise requires a lot of detail and tests the student's ability to describe scenarios, think on their feet, and utilize their vocabulary.

Question:

Rebecca purchased 10 bags. She intends to keep 6 of the bags to herself then split the rest evenly with her two friends. Please create an equation that represents this scenario, with x = number of bags each friend gets.

Answer:

The answer will be 10 = 2x + 6. Solving for this equation will give us x = 2. We set up this equation by setting everything equal to 10 because we know that Rebecca has 10 bags total. We also know that 6 of these bags will be hers, so we can put that on the other side of the equation. The rest of the equation must be the amount of bags Rebecca gives to her friends. She has 2 friends, and we know from the problem that each friend will get "x" bags. Hence, 2x will be added to 6.
