When should I use subjunctive tense?
The rules for using subjunctive tense seem complicated but are actually quite simple. The subjunctive is usually used in situations of uncertainty, or to express moods/attitudes. Often for the situations of uncertainty, 2 people are involved. For example, one would use the subjunctive in the sentence "I want you to do the dishes" but not in the sentence "I want me to do the dishes."

What was the purpose and importance of the Marshall Plan?
The USA's Marshall Plan, also referred to as the European Recovery Program began operations in 1948 to aid Western Europe in a restoration of its devastated economy after WWII. Though the program came at a great economic cost to the United States, it also benefitted the country in many ways, because it created alliances with the affected European countries in a tumultuous time, and thus discouraged the spread of communism in these countries. Additionally, it improved the overall global economy which benefitted the United States.
