What is Ohm's Law, and what purpose does it have in electrical Circuits?
Ohm's law could be expressed as the potential energy of a circuit (Voltage) is equal to the amount of Resistance(Ohms) times the Current flow (Amperage). It is useful because you can determine what will happen across a circuit if there is a change in any of the above three values.

We know there are two(2) people in the question, two variables. Myself, and my mother. To organize this data let Z stand for my own age. Since the data also states my mother is 3 X my age(Z) then we automatically can deduce another way to write my mother's age would be 3 x Z. The sum of our age is equal to forty (40). To write this properly in a mathematical equation we combine the variables. This is written Z (which stands for myself) added to 3(Z) (which stands for my mother) set equal to forty (40). Z+3(Z)=40. Next, we would look for like term to combine. since 3(Z) is a like term to Z we can add them together. When we add them together we get 4(Z). 4(Z)=40. To continue we separate the numerical value of four(4) from Z by dividing it. When we divide, from one side, we also have to divide from the other to keep the equation in balance. forty(40) will be dived by four(4) to receive an end value of ten (10). Know the equation has been simplified to Z=10. We now know Z's value and can plug it into the original values of my age, and my mother's age. My age was set equal to Z, therefore we know I am 10! My mom was three(3) times my age so 10X3= 30. She is 30.
