Rita loves to observe and question everything. She is not satisfied until she gets a proper answer. Today she is at a friend's birthday party. Rita noticed that while tying a fully blown balloon, it was let go by mistake. The balloon went in all directions, becoming smaller and smaller, finally fell on the ground. Rita wondered what made the balloon move so crazily and finally fall on the ground. Can you help her solve this mystery?
When a balloon is fully filled and tied, it holds the air inside and stays intact. However when it is blown up but let go without tying, the air inside is no longer confined to any boundary and escapes. It will be useful to know about one of Newton's laws of motion here to describe the movement of the balloon. Newton's third law of motion states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Now, what does this mean? When the air inside the balloon goes out in one direction, it causes the balloon to move in an opposite direction. So at every moment, as the air randomly gushes out of the balloon, it makes the balloon material move in a reverse direction. This makes the balloon move in a haphazard manner. Once all the air came out of the balloon, it fell down due to the pull of gravity which acts on all objects keeping them on the ground.
David loves ice cream. But he cannot step out to buy any ice cream because of the lockdown due to the pandemic. He then decides to make his own ice cream. As he has mango and strawberries in his home, he decides to make mango and flavored ice cream. After a lot of hard work, he has made 50 scopes of ice cream ready. Kate is excited to see the ice cream and asks David whether she can borrow 10 scoops of freshly made strawberry ice cream from him. David knows that he made 20 more scoops of strawberry ice cream than mango ice cream. Can you help him find how many scoops of strawberry ice cream he will have after giving Kate?
To begin with, let us pull out all the data given in the question Total scoops of ice cream made by David = 50 ---------> 1 Number of scoops of strawberry ice cream going to Kate = 10 ---------> 2 Given: David made 20 more scoops of strawberry ice cream than mango ice cream So, The number of mango ice cream + 20 = Number of strawberry ice cream -----> 3 For our convenience, shall we take the number of mango ice cream as x? Then the number of strawberry ice cream will be x + 20 (from 3) ------> 4 So, total number of ice cream scoops = x + x + 20 = 50 (from 1) This gives us the following equations, x + x + 20 = 50 2x + 20 = 50 Subtracting 20 from both sides, 2x + 20 - 20 = 50 - 20 2x = 30 2x/2 = 30/2 (Dividing 2 on both sides) x = 15 15 is the number of mango ice cream made Therefore the number of strawberry ice cream made = x + 20 (from 4) The number of strawberry ice cream made = 15 + 20 = 35 What is the question asking for? We want to know how many scoops of strawberry ice cream he will have after giving Kate. From 2, we know he is giving 10 scoops of strawberry ice cream to Kate. So he will be left with the number of strawberry ice cream made - 10 That is 35 - 10 = 25 scoops of strawberry ice cream So David will be left with 25 scoops of strawberry ice cream for himself.

Tom and Harry are best friends. Tom now 21, tells us that he met harry in the year 2009. While Harry tells us that he knows tom from the age of 11. Who is older among the two and by how many years?
Firstly, we are interested to find the age of Tom and Harry now, in the year 2021 Let us put down some of the data points given in the question, Now, in the year 2021, Tom is 21 years old In the year 2009, Harry is 11 years old How much older Harry will be in 2021? The answer is, 2021 - 2009 = 12 years Therefore Harry will be 11 + 12 = 23 years old in 2021 Age of Harry in 2021 = 23 years -----> 1 Now, what is the question asking for? We have to find who is older among the two and by how many years. For this, let us write down the ages of Tom and Harry in 2021 Age of Tom = 21 (from data) Age of Harry = 23 years (from 1) Difference in their age = 23 - 21 = 2 years Who is older? Final answer: Harry is older than Tom by 2 years
