The French and Indian War was a conflict between the French and English. England won the war and the Ohio River Valley. The English were in tremendous debt and therefore taxed the 13 American Colonies to pay for the cost of the war and the cost of defending the colonies from Native American attacks. The colonists demanded representation in Parliament and did not receive it. England began a series of taxes that were not successful, which led to the American Revolution.

Some ways to teach ELAR concepts would be to incorporate the use of interactive notebooks to provide direct instruction and a tool for students to use as a reference for anything from story elements to parts of speech. For lower grades, I have found that incorporating ideas into differentiated stations is a way to boost cooperative learning and student engagement.
