Questions

Subject: Writing

Question:

Why writing?

Quintionna P.
Answer:

This is such an open-ended question that I've been asked all throughout college. I get silence and stares when I tell people my major. The follow-up question is usually "what type of job can you get with that?" Writing for most people is just about being an author or a teacher/professor. However, writing is how social media has progressed so much in the past ten years. Writing is how: President's are elected, students are taught, people communicate, even how I'm applying for this job right now. Writing is so much more than just being an author, it's the ultimate form of communication. It's how I was able to talk to people from Peru last semester, or how foreign students are able to keep tabs on their families a hundred thousand miles away. Writing is one of the most important things in the world. That's why I chose writing.

Question:

Why is philosophy important in academics?

Answer:

Philosophy has been the reason why questions exist. When you question your morals or how one thing is held to a higher degree than another, philosophers have already evaluated and answered those questions four hundred years ago. At this moment we are only finding new questions to answers and answers to questions. Philosophy has made it possible for us as educators, students, parents, and leaders to critically think about everything from measuring if one life is more important then three to is my life more important than yours. Philosophy is like Pandora's Box, an unending number of questions just waiting to be answered.

Question:

To what degree have women impacted society?

Inactive
Quintionna P.
Answer:

Women are typically known to be the bearer of children, or highlighted only during the feminist movements. However, women have taken part in creating laws (i.e. prohibiting sex discrimination in the work place) and continue to speak out against lgbtq+ discrimination, the BLM movement, the Me Too movement and countless other movements. Women might not have always had a voice, but they have been present in every movement America has seen. A woman's impact on society goes far beyond movements, but the sheer strength of women on every level has contributed to the progression of not only America, but every country.
