Hannah Neuhauser earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from Millikin University in 2018 and her Masters of Music History from California State University Long Beach in 2020. She is the recipient of the Graduate Dean’s List for Scholars and Honors for her thesis, “Lost Without a Cue: The Progression of Music and Masculinity in Detective Film Noir” and has presented her work on “Music and Obsession in Laura” for the Pacific Southwest American Musicological Society Chapter in 2020. Teaching Experience
Music and film are ubiquitous medias that many can grasp and spark discussion. My teaching experience and professional research analyzes nostalgia through a musical lens. In my past lectures for Film Music and Music Appreciation, I use films or operas to generate critical thinking and through workshopping their essays, elevate their writing style that can be applied to any subject they are passionate about.

As a Graduate Assistant, I helped grade papers and exams, organized the classroom, led class lectures, and provided outside tutoring assistance to non-major students. I have been a GA for MUS 180 Music Appreciation, MUS 290 Popular Music in America and MUS 468 Film Music.
Millikin University, Undergraudate Fellow
2016 - 2018
An Undergraduate Fellow is a teacher assistantship. For two years, I was a TA for the Honors Documentary class. I helped to design the theme, organize the classroom, lead group discussions, and prepare the Blue Docs Film Festival, which is the showcase for the students’ work at the end of the semester.
