Question:

What is the area and circumference of a circle with a radius of 6 in?

Inactive
Cindy L.

The equation for the area of a circle is A = πr^2 where A = area. The equation for the circumference of a circle is C = 2πr where C = circumference. Now that we know the equations we can just plug in. This means that the area of the circle is 36π or around 113.1 and the circumference of the circle is 12π or around 37.7

Question:

A card is drawn from a shuffled stack of cards numbered 1 - 25. What is the probability of drawing a card that is divisible by 4?

The cards are numbered to 25 and we need to find how many cards are divisible by 4 so we can do that by seeing how many multiples of 4 there are before 25. Let's go through through the multiples, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24. There are 6 possible cards that are divisible by 4 and probability is basically asking us about the likelihood of something happening. Since there are 6 possible cards out of 25 that are divisible by 4, the probability of drawing a card that is divisible by 4 is 6/25.

Question:

What will the value of x be if 9x-14 = x+2?

In this problem because it is asking us to solve for the x we are going to need to have all the x's on one side. Therefore we will subtract one x from each side resulting in 8x-14 = 2. In order to isolate x we will move all the numbers without variables to the right side, so we will add 14 to each side resulting in 8x = 16. We are not done yet because there is still an 8 in front of the x, we have to divide both sides by 8 to get rid of it from the x side, this will result in our final answer x = 2. Just the Math: 9x - 14 = x + 2 8x - 14 = 2 8x = 16 x = 2
