The coursework in my degree focused heavily on diverse types of writing: fiction, creative nonfiction, and, of course, academic and literary essays. Throughout my many writing-heavy classes, I got an understanding of brainstorming, researching, drafting, and how the length and prompt of the essay dictates its shape. I also critiqued classmate’s writing, commenting on possible improvements and what was working well.
