Question:

Describe two different types of irony and give an example of how they may be used.

Savanah C.
Answer:

Verbal Irony is when a person implies a different meaning from their use of words than from what they have actually said. For example, someone may use an overstatement about how big their fish was, or an understatement for how much trouble they are in. Dramatic irony is when the audience of some sort of media (such as a book, movie, or TV show) are aware of something that the characters are not aware of. For example, in Lord of the Rings, the audience is aware of the ring's power to turn someone invisible, so when Bilbo puts it on his finger and disappears, the audience is not shocked, but the hobbits are.

Question:

Explain how blood flows through the heart, and into the lungs and body.

Savanah C.
Answer:

Oxygen- poor blood enters through the Vena Cava and goes into the right atrium of the heart where it is pumped down to the right ventricle via the tricuspid valve. Once the right ventricle is full, the tricuspid valve closes to avoid back flow of the blood. The blood then travels through the pulmonic valve to the pulmonic artery, and into the lungs and becomes oxygenated. Once the oxygenation is complete, the now oxygen- rich blood flows through the pulmonary veins into the left atrium. Then, it goes through the Bicuspid valve and into the left ventricle. Once the left ventricle is full, the bicuspid valve snaps shut and the blood is pumped through the aortic valve, into the aorta, and out into the body.
