What is the difference between an artery and a vein
Although most think that arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood away from the heart and veins are blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood to the heart, that is not 100% accurate. The pulmonary artery actually carries deoxygenated blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs to be oxygenated while the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left side of the heart.
