Questions
Subject: SAT
How do you work with students to prepare for the SAT?
The best way to prepare for the SAT is to practice real SAT questions. The college board publishes practice tests that are a great resource. Once students take the practice test I work with students to self-assess what questions they got wrong and how to get them right in the future. We work on strategies designed for them and optimized for their individual success.
Subject: Calculus
What is an integral and what are some applications of integrals?
An integral is either an expression of numerical value that is often known as the area under a curve. There are two types of integrals, definite and indefinite integrals. Using integrals we can find the area between two curve or even the volume of rotating a line about another line.
Subject: Statistics
Explain the different of mean and median and how each can be influenced by outliers.
Mean is also known as the average. You find the mean by adding up all of your data points and then dividing by the number of data points you have. Mean can be influenced greatly by outliers. Really large or really small numbers can impact the mean and change how you look at the descriptive statistic. Median is where you list all of your data points from smallest to largest and then find the central data point. Median is not influenced by outliers and will not change greatly by a really large or really small data point.
