Though it is a degree that suffers from more than its fair share of mockery, a B.A. in English is a diploma I am proud to hold. Studying English has taught me the power of narrative and its possibility to enact very real change, which has sharpened my own writing abilities tremendously. My degree has also shown me how fulfilling academics can be and has inspired me to pursue a career in scholarship. As I spend this year applying to graduate schools, I would be over the moon to tutor students in literature in the mean time as I hope to one day...
In high school, I volunteered at the local middle school and tutored students in reading comprehension, grammar, and history. I also gave them essay-writing advice. During the summer of 2015, I tutored a high school student for the critical reading section of the SAT.
