Why do I sometimes get bursts of energy right as I am trying to go to sleep? And why is sleep so important anyways?
This period of hypervigilance before sleep is actually an evolutionary result that helps to make sure we sleep in a safe place. Sleep is extraordinarily important for everyone, and especially for students. Physical and mental restoration, re-calibration of neuronal oscillation (resetting connections between cells), memory consolidation, and the strengthening of the immune system all occur during sleep.

There are so many different terms and facts I need to know -- how can I possibly look at medicine and anatomy from a conceptual perspective?
My favorite approach to studying biomedical science is to look at how everything ties together: I see the human body as a complicated puzzle that I am eager to solve. I like to break down every organ and bone into its structure, function, and location. Take, for example, the brain. The folds in the brain increase its surface area, enhancing the brain’s information-processing capability and number of cortical neurons. They are located all along the cerebrum. Or look at the femur: it is filled with dense, fibrous connective tissue, which grants it the strength to support the weight of the body and facilitate movement. It is the longest bone in the body, and the uppermost bone of the leg. Forging these types of connections is what I love about studying biomedical science, and I hope to share this passion with you.

How should I approach writing my essays?
While writing college essays may seem daunting at first, splitting up the work into strategic and manageable chunks can be a very effective way to navigate the college process. I love college essays because they can offer such a great representation of who you are, what you value, and which unique attributes you will bring to a college. I will be here to guide you through every step of the college process, and have extensive experience with writing and editing.
