Explain how energy flows through the ecosystem.
We have different trophic levels in an ecosystem where energy and nutrients are circulated. Energy Flow (10% energy transfer) Solar energy -> First trophic level -> Second trophic level -> Third trophic level First major source of energy is the sun and at the first trophic level, primary producers use solar energy to produce organic material through photosynthesis. At the second trophic level, The herbivores use plants as food which gives them energy. A large part of this energy is used by herbivores and 10% of energy is transferred to the next trophic level. At the next trophic level that is third, carnivores feed on the herbivores and derive energy for their growth. Decomposers which include bacteria, fungi, moulds, worms, and insects break down wastes and dead organisms and return the nutrients to the soil, which is then taken up by the producers. Energy is not recycled during decomposition, but it is released.
How a clone is formed?
Clone is referred to a group of morphological and genetically identical organisms. These are formed by Asexual reproduction where only one parent is involved and there is no need for fusion of male and female gametes. As there is no variation between parent and progeny, therefore progeny is identical to the parent which is known as clones.

Why the C/N ratio is an important factor in determining the growth of microbe in a reactor?
The C/N ratio is an important factor in determining the growth of microbe in a reactor because:- 1. Carbon can work as a source of substrate required for survival and Nitrogen, on the other hand, is a source of protein synthesis which is required for replication, translation or you can say multiplication. 2. If the ratio is high, that means C is in a greater amount which serves as good food and if the ratio is less that means N is high which will lead to cell growth, replication.
