What has your experience with writing taught you about formulating a paper? What qualifications do you have for written papers? For editing/proofreading papers?
Throughout my academic career, the primary element of every paper is the thesis--the foundation of purpose for an individual article, paper, or prompt. I have taken several classes on rhetoric and writing, on advanced grammar, and about English composition as a general enveloping concept. Proofreading and returning papers become a critical step, but understanding overall structural integrity and guidelines (MLA, APA, or Chicago TLC), also provide professional layers to every written piece. In my 35 classes, I have likely written at least 100 papers, and am incredibly excited to share this knowledge with those who I seek to mentor.
How has literature shaped your education? What is the importance of teaching about old literature and modern literature?
Throughout my associates and bachelors degree I have taken several classes on both American and British Literature, along with poetics, or various renditions of literary works. I have read literature from the 1300's to the modern day. Teaching about these various forms of literature emphasizes not only history, but the importance of movements and progression: the relevance of time and shifting fads, while analyzing real-world issues that may still pertain to the modern day. I seek to promote enthusiasm and excitement for all forms of literature because the vitality of the written word proves strong and relevant to this day.
What are some details about your education and experience with teaching English?
Throughout my college classes I have developed an intuitive sense to both listen, comprehensively read, and understand elements of writing beyond grammar, and editing. English in itself contains components of reading and writing, with the inclusion of critical thinking, rhetoric, reading comprehension, language arts, and grammar. I have taken upwards of 35 classes this far in my career and have extensively built my knowledge with the intention of teaching the future generations about the progression of English since the beginning of language.
