Question:

How do I do an in-text citation in MLA for a website?

Inactive
Kristie M.
Answer:

I would reference the OWL Purdue website and state that if the webpage has no author, an in-text citation is not needed as long as the student mentioned the webpage name and article name in the text. If the title of the article is not mentioned in the text, it would need to be included in parentheses at the end of the paragraph.

How can I better manage my time?

Answer:

I would ask the student to create a time diary for a few days and account for all the hours of the day. Whether that is personal grooming and getting ready in the morning, work, school, study time, exercise, etc. That way they could see where they could carve out a little more time for school work and study.

Question:

What is the most important part of a reference transaction with a patron?

Answer:

Listening. Truly listening to what the patron is asking. It is so easy to start trying to figure out the answer to their question when they are only halfway through asking it. That is what not to do. Actively listen to their entire question and then rephrase it and ask it of them for clarity. Then pause and think and direct them to the resources they need or give them their answer.
