In a classroom, there are 7 groups of desks, and each group has the same number of desks. The math teacher distributes one calculator to each desk. If out of 37 calculators all but 2 are distributed, how many desks are in each group?
35 calculators are distributed to 7 groups. (37 - 2) Therefore, 35÷7 = 5 calculators were distributed to each group. Since each desk gets one calculator, the number of desks in each group equals the number of calculators distributed to each group. written as a number answer this would look like this: 37 - 2 = 35 35 / 7 = 5

Their are fifteen cats in the pet shop and twelve dogs. Three peopleby come in and buy cats, five buy dogs, and two by one of each. How many pets are left in total.
This problem will have addition and subtraction. First we can add everything up! Cats and Dog Total at the start of the day = 15 cats + 12 dogs = 15+12 = 27 pets in total. now lets add up all that where purchased. 3 cats + 5 dogs + (1 cat + 1 dog x 2 buyers) = (2x2) + 3 + 5 = 4 + 3 + 5 = 12 pets got purchased. Now we need to subtract. We will subtract "pets purchased" from "pets in total" 27 - 12 = 15. We now know that the pets that didn't get purchased where fifteen in total.

How do you monitor learning and student growth?
Because children learn at different paces it is best to daily monitor the student through studies habits. I teach study technics to all ages that will push them to be more independent in their studies. If they are growing in these technics/study habits we will see their growth in their work.
