Subject: Writing
How do I write a good thesis?
A good thesis is a roadmap for your essay or paper. Make sure that it includes the teaser trailers for the main ideas for each of your body paragraphs and that you mention them in the order of the paragraphs. For example, Thesis: I believe that dogs are the best pets because they are loyal, intelligent, and good emotional support for their owners. So this thesis tells me that paragraph 1 will talk about how loyal dogs are, paragraph 2 will talk about their intelligence, and paragraph 3 will talk about dogs are emotional support for their owners. It is a simple road map for the rest of the essay.

Subject: Folklore and Mythology
Why do we study myths? They are like old fairy tales.
It is easy for myths to seem disconnected from us as they are stylistically very different from what we read or the stories we hear today, which are often shorter and condensely action-packed. Yet, myths are an insight into past cultures and civilizations. Once you begin to see the stories from the perspective of the original intended audience, there is a wealth of information to learn. Even more importantly, often times, you find that the emotions that the stories are based on are the same foundations for our current literature and entertainment today. So, studying myths can help bring old civilizations and cultures to life, rather then old ruins in a textbook.
