How do I start a paper if I have no idea where to begin?
A blank page can be tremendously intimidating. I encourage you to take notes (even if you choose to use bullet points) with general ideas that relate to the topic of the essay. Do not be afraid to write casually, as you can make the writing formal later. You can also create an outline using items from the assignment's rubric. Having ideas on the paper before structuring your writing can help kickstart your ideas.

How should I complete a long assignment that is due two months from now?
Split up the assignment into all of the different components and set a deadline for each part. Begin as soon as the assignment is given, but focus on only one part at a time to avoid becoming overwhelmed. You will be surprised at how quickly continual progress adds up to a good amount of work completed.
How do I answer questions about a story that was confusing for me?
When you read through the story, write a one sentence summary of each paragraph when you have finished reading it. Also, circle words you do not know the meaning of, look up their definition, and write them down. Highlight key terms as well. By the time you finish reading the story, you will have many sentences that convey the main points of the story. Read the story multiple times and break up the reading with short breaks if needed.
