Question:

How would you describe the process of writing a resume in MS Word compared to making a presentation in PowerPoint?

Inactive
Victor S.
Answer:

In making an MS Word document or PowerPoint, a user will create a new document. This document needs to be named. The content will have to go in the appropriate places. Formating Fonts and Text size are very similar, as is selecting the Theme. Creating tables and sentence spacing is, in essence, the same in both products as is inserting and formating images and tables. In both programs, the user can save the document in a variety of formats.

Question:

How do Freshmen use the library web page?

Answer:

We would record the student's interaction with the site for quantitative data and use the web page as they think aloud. Researchers will time various tasks. Patterns of usage will emerge along with thought processes. There may be A/B testing with a different version of the site.

Question:

How would you go about measuring how a Freshman uses the library?

Answer:

First, gain access to the group in question. Having contact with the folks that teach Freshman SBU 101 getting access would be easy enough. Second, a quantitative survey measuring interaction with the library, both physical and virtual. Did the student use the library web page? If so, what for and were they successful? How long did it take to find the information? What features of the site did the students use? Were guides used? When did the student come to the library? What rooms were visited, and for how long? Were the students looking for material or places to study? Did the student use the computers, and if so, what for? Does the student know the library is a Space Space and is all-inclusive? Next, we go qualitative. We'll need a semi-structured interview with about 30 students. We'll ask them their library sentiments and ask what they use the library for and when they do so. The interview will be transcribed and coded with three trained coders. The evidence would lead to themes and descriptions. We'll make the study phenomenological and study the various thoughts and interactions along with sentiments.
