Subject: Study Skills
How can a student determine if they have truly learned a subject?
Students should be able to recall and relay information they have learned. When students truly understand a topic or subject, they can speak confidently about it and engage in conversation around it. The study skills needed to develop this ability should also promote critical thinking, instead of memorizing facts.

Locate and evaluate 10 sources for a research paper.
Sources used for scholarly writing should pass evaluative measures determining credibility, reliability, authority, accuracy, and purpose. Students should also be able to go beyond these measures and use their own critical thinking skills to determine a resource's strength. Students should also demonstrate the ability to properly cite their sources.
Please describe a traditionally structured argumentative essay.
An argumentative essay should begin with a clearly composed thesis statement that details the direction and arguments of the paper. Each paragraph should then correspond with the thesis statement, with supporting arguments outlined in subsequent paragraphs.
