What are two critiques of Simmel's sociological theory?
While Simmel’s works were incredibly influential to society, there were two major critiques of his work. First, researchers and scholars were often unable to see the macro level implications of Simmel's theories. This was due in part to his heightened focus on the interaction of humans. In additional, critics often accused his theoretical studies as being too “fragmented,” simply because his notions were just ideas that added to existing theories, rather than creating his own, fully developed theory.
Subject: Comparative Government and Politics
What is the difference in significance of local governments in the United States and Japan?
In Japan, local governments are called prefectures. Although there is some power in the prefectures, such as each having one governor, they do not play as significant as a role as local government in the United States. The main reason behind this is because Japan has a Unitarian system (governing power resides mostly in one centralized government), while the United States has a Federalist system (mixed power between federal and regional governments, all constructing one political system).

What factors contribute to the complexity of contemporary criminal justice organizations?
Some of the common factors that contribute to the complexity of criminal justice organizations include work environment, public scrutiny, and social media. Criminal justice employees, such as police officers, are often subjected to a fast-paced work environment, due to the nature of their job. Police officers often have to respond to a given scene with minimal knowledge, and will likely face uncontrollable factors upon arrival. Police officers also face hardship through increasing public scrutiny, which adds in the complexity of personal safety. Finally, factors such as social media, which has often circulated videos and stories of police officers before a fair investigation was done, adds a complexity of public pressure. While accountability is certainly necessary, it is important for individuals to understand the myriad of complexities criminal justice professionals face in order to provide resources that can reduce workplace tension and improve employee satisfaction.
