Answer:

Collecting like terms. 8x + 2x = 6+5 10x = 11 10x/10 = 11/10 - Cancle out 10 to get x on it's own x= 1.1

Question:

The digestive system and the breathing system both contain specialized exchange surfaces. Explain how the villi and the alveoli are adapted to absorb molecules into the bloodstream.

Answer:

Both have a large surface area, while villi have many microvilli and the alveolar walls are not flat / are folded. This is to maximise diffusion (of gases) / absorption of (food) molecules. Both have many capillaries / good blood supply / capillaries near the surface to maintain concentration / diffusion gradient. Both have thin walls / walls that are one cell thick / one cell thick surface to provide a short diffusion distance (for molecules to travel). Villi have many mitochondria to provide energy for active transport (of food molecules), while also the cells of the villi have microvilli / more projections o further increase the surface area / increase the number of proteins in the membrane / to allow more active transport to take place
