Questions
Subject: Writing
How can I make my writing better?
No matter what level you're on, elementary through professional, clear, concise writing is a must! Simple, effective structures and well-constructed paragraphs are the key to good writing. Asking yourself questions while writing and editing can help you focus on your topic and stick to the point. Questions can also help you identify important or irrelevant details in your writing.
Subject: Basic Math
What if I just don't "get" math?
As a child I struggled with math. My algebra teacher, in particular, couldn't understand how I didn't understand. He just "got it" and I just didn't. When I started teaching fifth grade, I was able to really reach the kids who were struggling because of my own experience having to look at math in different ways. Now teaching math is one of my favorite subjects!
Subject: English as a Second Language
How does your native language subconciously shape your thoughts and conversations?
Some languages have grammatical gender, for example, and others don't. When talking about an unidentified person you still have to reveal gender in those languages, whereas in a language like English, the subject can remain completely anonymous.
