Sofia A.

NGO's present a wide variety of issues and perspectives on debated topics to policymakers, such as Amnesty International, and an NGO that strives to fight globally against injustice. Amnesty International representatives have spoken to Member States (countries) representatives at the United Nations, and tried to collaboratively work together with these policymakers to write and execute policies that protect individuals against injustice.

Question:

For the following equation, find the value of x: 4x/5 = 5y

Sofia A.

In order to solve for x in this equation, you must identify where is x. X is part of a fraction (4x/5), and for these types of questions, we want to eliminate the fraction first. First, we will multiply both sides by 5. It will look like this (5/1) * (4x/5) = 5y * (5/1). Let's look at the first portion, (5/1) * (4x/5) will become 20x/5, which reduces to 4x. The second side will be 25y which results in the equation being 4x=25y. We can simplify this further since we want X not 4x, we divide 4 by bother side as such: (4x)/4 =(25y)/4 which will result in (4x)/4 canceling out to just x and the (25y)/4 becoming 25y/4. As a result x= 25y/4, which is our answer.
