Question:

Write down a matrix that is not diagonalizable. Explain?

Purna R.

The matrix A = 0 1 0 0 is not diagonalizable. This is because the only eigenvalue of A is 0, but A 0 1 = 0 1 0 0 0 1 = 1 0 6= 0, so the R2 is not spanned by vectors killed by A.
