Sickle cell disease is contagious or inherited disease? Give detail.

Amandeep K.
Answer:

Sickle cell disease is not contagious, it is being inherited by genes from parents to their child through genes. In this disease impaired gene causes hemoglobin to get abnormal in red blood cells make it sickle-shaped. Normal hemoglobin is responsible for taking oxygen in lungs to all body tissues while impaired shaped hemoglobin gets to stick to the blood vessels and make blockage in the blood vessels. As a result, a person gets severe pain crises or organ damage due to nonsupply of Oxygen.
