Answer:

A thesis is one's argument in the essay that gives the reader the main idea, usually condensed into one sentence at the end of the introductory paragraph. The thesis is supported by specific examples in the essay to convince the reader of one's argument; without proof the thesis is invalid.

Answer:

"Those who pray" are those who have taken religious orders and are members of the church. This includes priests, monks, nuns, bishops, and other clerics. Their role was to preside over the spiritual aspects of life such as prayer and worship. "Those who work" are the peasants or working class. This includes serfs and other free farmers who work the land, which provides society mainly with the food it requires. Finally, "those who fight" are the warrior class, or knights. Their function was to fight to protect their lord's land and the peasants against any physical threats that may arise.

Question:

Explain this quotation from Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1: To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles And by opposing end them.

Answer:

In this scene, Hamlet is grappling with the meaning of life and is contemplating the purpose of his own existence. Considering his lack of action up to this point in the play regarding his father's murder, he wonders what his purpose in life is if he cannot even accomplish avenging his father's death. He asks if it is better to live with all the uncertainties of life and the troubles that come with it, or, knowing that life will be too difficult to bear, end it on his own terms.
