When it comes to editing a piece of work for a client, what is your policy?
When I was an English tutor at Amarillo College, I wasn't necessarily an editor. An editor or a grader typically would go through the entire article with a red pen correcting all the grammatical errors. As a tutor, I do what I can to help a client learn from their mistakes, to recognize and correct their own essays in the future. Sure, I can edit an entire essay if that's what a client is requesting, but I'd rather have the session be a learning experience.
Math is typically a tough subject and can be frustrating at times. How do you approach a difficult concept without becoming overwhelmed?
Math doesn't come easily to some and all throughout school, I struggled with math. I realized when it came to hard problems, I needed to take deep breath, take a break, and come back later approaching the problem with a can do attitude. As silly and cliche as that sounds, that is merely the first step to overcome any anxiety surrounding the subject.
