What are the proteins that work together in DNA replication and repair?
Helicase(unwinds the double helix), Primase( synthesizes the short RNA primer), DNA pol III (starts DNA synthesis at 3' end of the primer, and continues 5' to 3' direction), DNA pol I replaces the RNA primer with DNA nucleotides, and DNA ligase( seals the free end of the new DNA to the old DNA)
For years scholars have debated whether or not Marco Polo actually traveled from Europe to Mongol-ruled China. Do you think he traveled to China, or not? And Why?
Regarding his visit to China, there have been speculations that he never went. Historians use a component of Polo’s writing to reaffirm that he never visited China: The absence of a great Chinese advance like Calligraphy. Polo failed to mention a key Chinese advance that was new to him such as Calligraphy. Why didn’t he let people know? That leads me to believe that he didn’t go to China. Marco Polo didn’t go to China because of his lack of mentioning Chinese inventions. My conclusion is that he wrote descriptions of what he heard not what he saw.
What are slave narratives? What is the significance of them during the 18th century of US history?
Slave Narratives are true accounts written by former slaves to encourage the abolitionist cause. A bold characteristic of the slave narrative is having a quest for literacy. One such slave narrative by Fredrick Douglass uses literature to expand his intellect in understanding that being a slave is wrong. In Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass, he expresses that his intellect led to his escape from freedom. The whole reason why slave owners didn’t even allow slaves to read and write is that if you take away a person’s intellect you can make them even more oppressed. Douglass combated that with the power of education.
