Tutor profile: Laila C.
Master of Information Science Graduate Student at the University of Illinois
I am a librarian-in-training with knowledge in literature, media, folklore and mythology, culture, and history. My skills range from generating bibliographic metadata, providing book recommendations, and creating resources guides to producing creative fiction, illustration, and literature and media reviews. I have particular interest in youth services, programming, outreach, and materials as well.
I have supervised ~30 underserved teenagers in a community, art, and technology based program center called The Clubhouse Network. I assisted with maker space technology such as the 3D printer, laser cutter, fashion tools, and audio/video software, as well as provided feedback and advice on the participants' projects and potential career paths in the arts.
