Question:

What are three ways to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of your time while studying?

Answer:

One of the most important things to study successfully is good organization. Use a planner or an online calendar to list all of your assignments, when they were assigned, and when they are due. Plan to work on each one a little bit every day leading up until the due date. It is also helpful to list the assignment again a few days before it is due, so that you are aware that the deadline is approaching. Another important thing is to manage your time effectively. Rather than staring at your books for five hours straight, set a time limit for yourself to study (maybe 30 minutes) and then take a five-to-ten minute break to give yourself time to recharge. You will remember more and it will take less time overall. One other important thing to think about is the way in which you are studying. If you're studying vocabulary, make flashcards to quiz yourself. If you're studying math, look at sample problems, and if you have access to the solutions, go through the explanation of each step. Also consider working with a study group to answer any questions you might have.

Question:

Sam wants to go to the grocery store to buy five peaches. Each peach costs 75 cents each. Sam has no dollar bills, only quarters. How many quarters will he need to buy five peaches?

Answer:

Sam will need 15 quarters to buy five peaches, assuming there is no tax. Each quarter is 25 cents, so he will need three quarters for each peach. For five peaches, multiply three quarters by five, which is 15 quarters.

Subject: English as a Second Language

Question:

Why is it important to learn English if it is not your native language?

Answer:

With the rise of technology and other means by which the world has become more interconnected, communication has become even more important. Although it is not the language spoken by the largest number of people in the world, it is the most widely understandable and the language many people default to when they otherwise do not share a common one. Learning English and culture different from one's own helps to increase cultural awareness and opens up opportunities that otherwise would not be available.
