Question:

When is it appropriate to use the subjunctive mood in French?

Nick L.
Answer:

One uses the subjunctive mood in French when talking about will, emotion, doubt, and necessity. For example, "Je veux que tu sois heureux." In english, we don't use the subjunctive; instead, we usually use the the infinitive in place of the subjunctive verb in the second clause. A translation of the above sentence would be "I want you to be happy"

Question:

What was the constitutional basis for the dissenters' opinions in the Obergefell v. Hodges case?

Nick L.
Answer:

The dissenting opinion of the Supreme Court in the Obergefell v. Hodges case believed that marriage was a question of policy, and therefore believed that the Court itself had no jurisdiction to rule on this case. The dissenters believed, for the most part, that marriage should be left to the states or people to decide under the 10th amendment, not the Federal courts system.

Answer:

The North had several assets that gave them a large advantage over the South, including a larger population of 22 million people, having 86% of the Nation's factories, a considerably larger Navy, a thicker portfolio of natural resources, and more than twice the number of railroads.
